My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

My name is Max. I tend to go by Max #2 here since there was already a Max staying at the rescue previously. I think I should be #1 because I'm just so darn special!

Well, evidently I'm supposed to be telling you more about me not debating on the #1 and #2 issue. My full name is actually Maximus. Max is better for me because when your called by your full name it always means your in trouble for something! I am a m'loot (the larger kind) Alaskan Malamute. I'm Male (rolling eyes, foster mom told me to put that in). I'm neutered (don't tell the ladies, there's a really pretty husky here I'm trying to get to know). I'm updated on rabies, distemper, heartworm negative, treated for fleas, ticks and internal parasites and I'm microchipped.

I was born on February 12, 2016. I'm a young, studly man! Although, my previous owner out in California shaved me so I do look a bit silly. Hard to get to know the ladies when they keep laughing at you over a bad hair cut! My first owner lived in California and he was quite elderly. He had to be put into a home so I ended up at a rescue out that way. I was adopted to a nice lady in Michigan who really was a good mommy but she had an elderly dog who I tried to show dominance over and it ended in a couple scuffles. She had another younger male dog who I got along EXCELLENT with.

I am fully house trained. I detest being in a crate or put into a room. I MUST have full roam of the house. I'm such a good boy, I don't chew anything or make any kind of messes. I even know my basic commands, sit, stay, down. I walk well on the leash, although at first I do pull because I'm just so darn excited to be going for a walk.

I LOVE to be by my people. I will follow you everywhere. My foster mom said I'm like having another shadow. She's a dork, I'm not a shadow. I'm manly. If I was human I would be into tools and all that other manly stuff....

I LOVE ALL people and I adore kids. I get extremely excited when I see people, and I will try to jump on them. My foster mom is teaching me the off command. I'm trying to grasp it but excitement over rules commands when I see people! I'm your typical northern breed so small furry animals are off limits for me (cats). But younger playful dogs male or female I'll do excellent with!

I'm not a wonderful car passenger. I tend to have anxiety and make myself vomit and poop. We're working on that. Evidently I wasn't very exposed to riding in vehicles. Foster mom says it's not a real redeeming quality if someone adopts me and I vomit or poop on them. I suppose not but gosh it's embarrassing to me too! I'm supposed to be manly remember!

I heard that anyone interested in adopting should go to www.fewstepsfromhome.com and fill out the meet and greet application. The other dogs told me about that rule....it's absurd! Fill out an application to just meet me???!!! Now that's the silliest thing I've ever heard of! But, rules are rules as dumb as they are!

So if you would like to meet a big , friendly, goofy, playful boy who adores to cuddle then look no further. I'm your guy! Please just don't laugh at my hair cut. I'm already getting made fun of by the other dogs here!

Hope to meet you soon,

Love, Max (Max #2)
