Aberdeen Scottish Terrier Rescue is a registered 501(c)3.
Adoption application at www.aberdeenstr.com

***MUST SUBMIT APPLICATION before we will respond to email or phone inquiries. Thanks for your cooperation!***

WE ARE NOT A SHELTER, WE ARE AN ALL-VOLUNTEER RESCUE WITH FULL-TIME JOBS.
Please do not contact us to come look at a dog.
We will contact you once we have reviewed your completed application if we think your home might be a good fit. A reference check, phone interview, and home visit will be completed before meeting an adoptable dog.

We work quickly. Please do not submit an application until you are ready to bring a new furry family member home. Expect your references to be contacted shortly after submitting your application. We adopt out to homes around the US and Canada, but require that you are present for the meet and greet in Renton, WA.

Our adoption fee is non-negotiable as we need these funds to cover medical bills. The adoption fee is due on the day of adoption in the form of a check, Chase QuickPay, PayPal, or cash.

Buffy is a beautiful four year old Shih tzu mix looking for a forever home. What she is mixed with we don’t know for sure. She is 15 pounds and has a grade 2 heart murmur. Buffy is microchipped, heart worm negative, and up to date on vaccinations.

Buffy gets along with everyone she has met. She has lived with an 8 year old boy and loves the attention of older children. She loves people and gets along with other dogs. We have not had her around young children or cats, though, so we're not sure how she does with them.

Buffy was rescued from a high-kill shelter in California. She immediately went to the vet where it was discovered that she had a heart murmur, terrible skin, and an ear infection. Her fur was matted and had to be shaved down to the skin.

We bought her back to WA where she saw another vet. It was determined that she did indeed have a heart murmur, needed a dental cleaning, and also had a possible urinary tract infection. For safety and to find out the grade of heart murmur, Buffy needed an echocardiogram before she could be put under anesthesia to receive her dental cleaning. Buffy received her echocardiogram and our vet determined that it was safe for her to receive her dental which she did.

Our vets believe from their findings that Buffy’s heart murmur is tied to her previous home feeding her a grain-free diet her whole life, so Buffy must be on a diet that includes grain. It’s also advised that Buffy be on a 500mg taurine supplement twice per day. Our vets recommend that Buffy gets an echocardiogram to check on her progress every 6-9 months once she goes to her forever home. When applying to adopt Buffy, please consider this treatment and the cost.

Buffy can be a bit shy at first, but is super sweet and affectionate once she knows you. Once she understands that you are her person, she loves to snuggle. Buffy also enjoys walks and does well on a leash. When her foster mom goes to get her little boy off the bus, Buffy goes along for the walk and enjoys the attention from the kids. She would prefer a calm house with lots of attention from her people.

Buffy has been trained to go on potty pads but also understands that she should go outside. As with all of our rescue dogs, she will need work on her house training in a new environment. We are looking for a forever family who will be committed to working with her. We expect adopters to be willing to commit to a dog's care for their whole life, including working with a trainer if necessary.

Our rescue dogs need homes with people who are understanding of their past and are not willing to give up on them. Our number one focus is finding these little loves a wonderful forever home with a family who is going to care for them and show them what it is like to be loved in a safe environment with a full belly and a warm bed. These sweet pups do not ask for much from you but they may require a little patience and understanding.

Buffy has an adoption fee of $600 and is ready for her truly loving forever home.
