My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Oscar
Oscar is an incredibly handsome and amazing dog. And our hearts are breaking that he has yet to find his forever loving home. A shelter is no place to spend your life, especially when you are as wonderful and friendly a boy as Oscar. Every day Oscar hopes that today will be his day to go home. He waits by the fence and happily comes up to say hello when someone calls his name. Oscar LOVES people and he so wants to be loved and cherished forever. Oscar is almost 9 years old. We think he is an American Pitbull terrier/Boxer mix. Oscar has been done wrong on two separate occasions, but he still LOVES with his whole heart. He absolutely adores people and children. He’s trained, he’s calm, he’s gentle, he’s affectionate, he’s goofy and he’s incredibly loyal. Oscar welcomes a good back scratch and wags his whole body when he sees his people. He also gives big sloppy doggie kisses and makes sure you know how happy he is to see you. He’s the kind of boy that you’ll want to while away the day with on the couch or porch or take for a drive. Oscar loves going for drives. He loves walking and is an easy stroller. He’s exceptionally companionable. Oscar is super smart and easy to train. He loves the water and plays in the kiddie pool when it’s hot out. He has a sponsor who keeps him supplied with toys and goodies, but he has spent over 5 long years in our shelter and is desperate for a home of his own.
Oscar will thrive as the only fur baby in a home without other dogs or cats. But he loves big and will make his special person’s life or his family that much richer. Oscar may be seven now, but he’s in good health and he has a lot of life to live and love to give. The person or family willing to open their heart and home to Oscar will be richly rewarded with one incredible dog. We hope Oscar’s special someone or family will come soon.

Charles Smithgall Humane Society (CSHS) is a No kill shelter. Animals in our care remain safe with us until adopted. Resident animals are primarily owner relinquished and also accepted from local Animal Control. The facility usually is operating at capacity with a list of animals waiting for space to open.
Adoptions and meet and greets are being scheduled by appointment only. Please call our office, email us or complete an application and someone will be in touch just as soon as they can.
