My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Senor Syd is a 10-11 month old rare Mexican Hairless Xoloitzcuintle (Xolo). How did an Asian dog rescue get a Mexican dog? Easy! The owner who relinquished him didn't have a clue as to what he was and told us he was a Chinese Crested! Having already committed, we brought this dog into our rescue anyway so that he wouldn't end up at the shelter. Without question, Syd is a purebred Xolo and I had to do research on the breed (which I never heard of before!). He is highly intelligent, extremely loyal and affectionate (Xolos are known as velcro dogs), can jump straight up into the air at least 3 feet off the ground, and is a great dog for people with allergies - he has no fur OR dander, the primary cause of allergic reactions. Xolos don't get fleas. Interested persons should research Xolos to learn more about them before applying.

Syd does have a stubborn streak! He needs constant reinforcement because he wants what he wants when he wants it! But that's the puppy in him and he will excel with proper training. He's always on the go and would make a great agility dog. Syd gets along with most of the 11 other dogs in the house - there are a couple that would rather not put up with his exuberance and let him know it! He's also stopped chasing the cats! But, I'm sure that he would prefer to be an only dog because he has a jealous streak - he must be the center of attention and will push other dogs out of the way to get it, which often causes friction. As told by the previous owner, Syd absolutely doesn't like young children. He will growl and bark at them endlessly. So homes with children under the age of 12 won't be considered (he LOVED my 13 year old granddaughter!). Think twice if you are someone who frequently has young children as visitors. The best home for him would have an active couple that loves to jog or run and would like to become active in agility training.

Syd is being fostered in Atlantic County, NJ and his asking adoption fee is $400. He will be available after his neuter date on May 22nd.

E-MAIL INQUIRIES WILL BE RESPONDED TO MUCH FASTER THAN TELEPHONE CALLS.

NOTE: Due to the volatile price of gas, getting multiple volunteers to help with long distance transporting is no longer feasible. We have listed the town and state where each dog is being fostered. Please consider how far you are willing to travel when filling out the application. The foster home will usually volunteer to help with transport for a reasonable distance.
