Meet Albert, a 9 year old, 11 pound Yorkie. He was turned into rescue with his Shih Tzu housemate because their family had not been able to care for them. Neither of them had seen a veterinarian or groomer for several years. Both dogs had to be shaved down because their fur was severely matted. Albert is like a new dog after his grooming; he much more comfortable and he gets cuter every day as his fur grows out. Attached are pictures of Albert before and after grooming.
Albert loves being near his foster mom and is a cuddle bug. He is housetrained and will let you know when he has to outside. He walks well on a leash and sleeps with his foster mom and foster doggie sibling. Albert’s foster mom would like to adopt him to a home where someone is home during the day or part of the day. He could also do well in a home with another small doggie friend. This little guy will melt your heart. Albert is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventive. He is in good health, although we are also watching his kidney values because they were elevated somewhat when he was seen by our vet when he first came into rescue. The elevated values were most likely caused by the substandard food he had been eating and the stress of the major changes in his life. He is on a healthy diet now, which he just loves. He has also had a dental and had his teeth extracted due to periodontal disease. This has not deterred him from eating or playing, and now his mouth doesn’t hurt anymore.
Albert’s adoption fee is $182.79 which includes $12.79 Minnesota sales tax. Albert’s foster mom would prefer to adopt him within 65 miles of Bloomington, MN, but exceptions can be made if the right home is outside of this parameter.

Or you can also see him and the other dogs available for adoption from Shih Tzu Rescue of Minnesota by visiting with us from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Minnetonka Petco near Ridgedale the first Saturday of every month. All adopters are also invited to attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held each fall.
