Willow is a 4 year old dachshund who came to CPP when her owner was forced to surrender several of her breeding dogs. Willow's breeder decided to breed two dapple dachshunds. As a result Willow is deaf, a common genetic problem for double dapples, and suffers from demodex, a genetic skin disorder that can easily be managed with good diet and stress management.
She is a very affectionate little dog who wants plenty of attention from the humans around her. Once Willow has met you she loves to butt her head against your hand for petting or be held. She also bonds easily to new people and shows her excitement to see them.
Willow has probably not been socialized to small children although she is friendly to them at PetsMart. Because of her small size she would do best with calm, gentle children. She likes dogs of both sizes, but Willow doesn't appreciate overly energetic big dogs getting into her face. Like many dachshunds she has no fear and will put the rude dog in his or her place.
We do not know if Willow is housetrained or if she has ever been around cats.
