My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

If you are interested in HONEY or in adopting a pup in general, the first step is an adoption application. Download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to kerri.woofriver@gmail.com
Please submit an application AND do NOT also contact the shelter. You will be contacting both the adoption coordinator and the marketing director, who do not see each other's emails. This causes confusion.

HONEY is such a fitting name for this sweet girl. She loves to show her foster family how much she adores them by cuddling up close, giving them kisses, and gazing at them with her eyes full of gratitude.

She also does great with her foster fur siblings: a tiny senior rat terrier and 2 young adult large dogs. HONEY is an equal mix of snuggle on the couch and romp in the backyard. She rides wonderfully in the car and would eagerly accompany you on any road trip. HONEY knows not to potty in the house and is happy in her crate while her foster family is at work!

She has no issues when neighborhood cats come over to say hi, though she doesn't live with kitties full time. HONEY wants to please her people so we think she would do very well in group obedience or even agility if your are interested in that sort of thing. HONEY is a young beautiful girl with a lifetime of love to give her forever family!

HONEY is spayed, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations including 2 rounds of both the H3N2 and H3N8 canine influenza vaccine.
Her $490 adoption fee includes her interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the Midwest after she is officially adopted.

Please email the completed application to kerri.woofriver@gmail.com. It typically takes us around 5 BUSINESS DAYS to process an application. We will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience.

All of our dogs start their journey in Memphis, Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Alpha Dog Pet Transport for our New England, Nashville, and Knoxville adoptions (https://alphadogtransport.com) and The Road Home Pet Transport for our Midwest adopters (https://www.facebook.com/roadhomepettransport).

Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you request, complete, and submit an application before asking additional questions. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, Woof River is 100% volunteer operated. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.
