My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

UPDATED BIO 07-10-09: Simon is a gorgeous 3 y/o 19.1# yorkie - he is being fostered in Ft. Myers , Florida. Simon has a seizure disorder; it has been undetermined as to what is causing his seizures at this point - he is currently on several meds (not very expensive) which appear to be controlling them at this point.......he is being closely monitored so that we can feel certain he will maintain a level of seizure-free activity. Simon's Foster Mom recently started cooking his meals with human grade meats and vegetables, and his seizures have actually decreased in both frequency and duration - yeah! FM refers to him as "Simon My Diamond" - not only because he is such a jewel of a doggie, but because he's soooooo smart! He knows the difference between her 'going-out' clothes and her 'staying home' clothes and will playfully try to take them out of her hands while getting dressed - what a character! Simon now knows several commands -'sit', 'down', and 'pretty-boy-sit-very-well'. Simon has settled-in nicely at his foster home and is enjoying the company of the two yorkies in the home. Cats are still 'okay' - well, as long as they don't run past him - if that happens he just can't resist a good chase, but stops when FM says NO! This makes him realize he really shouldn't have chased the cat, then he comes up behind FM if she is sitting and sneaks his head on her shoulder, and looks at her with those big brown eyes......FM says he's a 'real player'!

Simon suffered from severe separation anxiety when he first came into her home; however, that is now minimal - FM's little female yorkie Odelle Girlie probably has something to do with that since they have really become close buddies. If the weather permits, Simon could walk on a leash all day long without a break - he is very muscular and athletic and loves his walks. When at home, he is calm and quiet by FM's side or snuggled with her on the sofa or at bedtime. Simon loves the companionship of another dog, but he is very devoted and attached to his 'person'. The grooming, bathing, teeth brushing and loving-on are things Simon can't get enough of - he adores these activities, with the blow dryer being his all-time fav.

Housebreaking is a 'work in progress' - he does really well some days and not so well on others; FM is working on this with him. Simon has also been getting toys from the toy basket; flips them up in the air and catches them in his mouth - he loves doing this and does it over and over again. He found one of the cat's toys with a pull string to make it vibrate and wiggle; he discovered he could place it between his paws and and pull the string all the way out with his teeth - he loves to feel it vibrate and just keeps doing it over and over, also. He is such a funny and entertaining little character who continues to delight Foster Mom. Please don't let Simon's seizure disorder keep you from adopting this otherwise perfectly healthy and amazing yorkie boy. His perfect home would be one in which he had another doggie companion and a fenced-in yard.

UPDATED BIO 06-05-09: Simon is a gorgeous 3 y/o 18.5# yorkie - he is being fostered in Ft. Myers , Florida. Simon has a seizure disorder, most likely epilepsy, and he is currently on several meds (not very expensive) which appear to be controlling his seizures.......he is being closely monitored so that we can feel certain he will maintain a level of seizure-free activity. Simon has settled-in nicely at his foster home and is enjoying the company of the two yorkies in the home. He appears to be more interested in his chewy bones than toys at this point. He gets along very well with the dogs in the home and with other dogs he meets, although FM's senior dog Reggie growls and tries to bite him with his toothless mouth - and Simon just ignores him. Odelle, the little yorkie girlie in the home has tried to encourage Simon to play with her a few times, and they have become napping buddies. Simon is a super snuggle-bunny (Foster Mom calls him a big-time lover boy!) and usually has his head resting on FM or at least by her side. He likes FM to carry him and stands up for her to pick him up. FM says that Simon is one of the most devoted dogs she has ever known, also also very smart - he knows the commands 'sit' and 'lay down'.

Simon initially had separation anxiety when FM left the home, but since he and Odell have become friends, he settles down nicely now when FM leaves. Housetraining for Simon is an on-going process - apparently he has never been taught that it is not appropriate to eliminate in the house, and FM is working with him on this issue. Simon likes to warn FM when someone is in "his" yard and barks at everyone who comes to the door. Foster Mom is also working on this behavior with him, although she has noticed that it takes him longer to warm up to most men; but once he gets to know them and knows that they will not harm him, he is fine. Simon is a very strong, muscular and athletic dog who amazingly loves bath-time and and the blow dryer. He falls asleep when FM blows him dry! Awwwwwwwwww...he also lets her brush his teeth, play with his toe nails, trim his hair - he seems to be very agreeable with just about anything that his 'human' needs to do, which is just wonderful. This little boy deserves a wonderful forever home of his home - please don't overlook him because of his seizure disorder - he is very loving and would do well in a home with children older than 12 y/o.

UPDATED BIO 05-05-09: Simon is a gorgeous 3 y/o 15# yorkie - he is now being fostered in Ft. Myers , Florida. Simon has a seizure disorder, most likely epilepsy, and it appears that his current dosage of phenobarb is keeping him seizure-free - thank goodness! He is being closely monitored during this initial period so that we can feel certain he will maintain this level of seizure-free activity. He is a very sweet little boy who loves to cuddle and appears to be totally housetrained - he alerts Foster Mom when he needs to go out. Although Simon is interested in watching other dogs playing, it is currently felt that he may do best as an only dog, or in a home with another dog close to his age and size for companionship. This little boy so deserves a wonderful forever home of his home - please don't overlook him because of his seizure disorder - he is very loving and at this time we feel he could be adopted into a home with older teenagers, but no young children.

UPDATED BIO 04-20-09: Simon is a gorgeous 3 y/o 15# yorkie - he is being fostered in Davie, Florida. Simon has been diagnosed with a seizure disorder, most likely epilepsy, and since being placed on phenobarb he has had no further seizures ~ yeah~! He is a very sweet little boy who loves to cuddle and appears to be totally housetrained - and will let Foster Mom know when he needs to go out. He has a lot of interest in watching the other dogs in the home playing, and hopefully he will join in soon - although he doesn't appear to have played with toys before. This little boy deserves a wonderful forever home of his home - please don't overlook him because of his seizure disorder - he is very loving and would do well in a home with older children.

INITIAL BIO 04-14-09: MEET SIMON! He's a gorgeous 3 y/o 15# yorkie - the story on Simon is still a mystery that is unraveling.....he was found wandering in a neighborhood - he is very trusting and well-mannered, and completely housetrained! Simon walks well on a leash and appears to have been cared for at one time. However, it has been determined that Simon has an unknown seizure disorder - once we became aware of it, after some further testing, the vet put him on phenobarb to control his daily seizures. It may take a few weeks to get the dosage regulated but once it is under control, Simon will be ready for adoption. Foster Mom says that he is very sweet and gets along well with other dogs. He is timid and shy, but that may change after some time in the foster home. Foster Mom keeps him by her side at all times so that she can determine how the phenobarb is working. This little boy deserves a wonderful forever home of his home - please don't overlook him because of his seizure disorder - he is very loving and would do well in a home with older children.
