Ladies and Gentlemen….we are PROUD to introduce our newest Lucky Lab, Toby!! Toby is an adorable 1 year old lab mix. He is the perfect size for snuggling and fitting in with the family. At 50 pounds, Toby is that not-too-small, not-too-big size that everyone seems to be searching for. Toby was taken to a rural shelter in Mississippi by his former owner, who claimed there must have been “something wrong with him because he wouldn’t gain weight”. That “something” was a typical case of worms and a horrible case of bad owner! Toby can be very timid around males, so there is no telling what he might have gone through before his foster took him in. Fortunately, there is a man in the house with Toby and he is winning him over, slowly but surely. Toby loves people, but will need slow introductions so he can build his confidence and gain trust. When it comes to other dogs, he is ALL IN! In fact, Toby’s favorite activity is to play with the other dogs in his house. He is doing well with housetraining but still has a few accidents now and then. Like any young lab, Toby could benefit from obedience classes, and we know he will do well because he very quickly mastered sit! He is also treat motivated, which certainly helps things out! He can be a little mouthy when your hands are down and sometimes wants to chew on them, but not in an aggressive way. Time, redirection, and proper chew toys are all he needs to break this habit. Toby has medium energy levels and knows when it’s time to chill out and be a couch potato. This sweet boy has captured the hearts of everyone around him (including the 12 year old grumpy lab foster sister in his home). Are you ready to let him steal yours, too?
