Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Hi my name is Jethro and I am a 5 year old, 60lb Labrador retriever. I once had a family and home, but found myself dumped off on the side of the road one day. I was alone and scared and wandered for what seemed like weeks. I had no shelter in the stormy weather and no food for my belly. My skin got really bad and my hair was falling out. I was finally picked up by an ACO..... but then once again dumped..... in a shelter this time. What did I do wrong to deserve this? The shelter volunteers cared for me for 4 weeks. They made sure I was eating and putting on weight and they took care of my skin and coat. Then one day the volunteers at the shelter started to whisper that my "time was up" the next morning because I had been there too long. I was panicking but my shelter volunteer friends had become attached to me and set to work contacting rescues in the area and begging for someone to save me. Thankfully a rescue stepped in only an hour before my deadline, pulled me out of the shelter, and sent me to an awesome foster home. I thought I was in heaven! I am still a little skinny so I am getting lots of food and love and even a bath! I am crate trained and 90% house trained (I just needed a quick refresher course). Just like all labs, I love people and I love to play with tennis balls, toys and other dogs. I am working on my basic commands and my foster mom says I am smart and learning every day. I have not met a cat yet so I don't know if I would like living with one. I am the perfect medium sized dog. And I personally think I am also the perfect age too. I am past all the puppy energy and can calm down for a good long nap snuggled up next to you on the couch, but am never too tired to play ball!
My ideal home would include a playmate which could be a human or doggie sibling (or both) - I am not picky! I would make a great running, hiking or walking partner for someone as I love to be outdoors. And of course, I would like lots of love and attention from everyone in my new family. I know in return, I can make them very happy!
I am healthy, neutered, up to date on all my vaccinations and currently in a foster home in Texas. My bags are packed and I am ready for my forever home!
