My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hidee ho! My name is Smokey Robinson, and I'm an adorable, sweet, active, playful fluffy black smoke Maine Coon/ domestic medium hair mix little boy who loves to purr and who was born in October 2018. (Black smoke means that I have a slight gray undercoat with my otherwise black coat.)
I've bonded well with my sweet foster meowmy, who indulges me with the canned food that I absolutely adore. I'm a loving tyke who will purr for her at the drop of a hat. I'm fearless and would love to play with the older kitties in my foster home if they were just interested in playing with me. No worries! I can always find something to play with -- whether it moves or not!
A couple of Good Samaritans found me as a tiny orphan in their back yard, and my future foster meowmy stepped up to the plate and agreed to help me find my forever home. I'm so glad that a tiny one like me no longer had to contend with Houston's cool, clammy, and sometimes rainy fall weather because I most definitely would not have survived outside at my tender age. I hope that you'll arrange to meet me -- perhaps as a Christmas gift to you or your family -- even before I'm neutered December 28. I'd love to crawl up in your lap to gobble up some canned food and then turn on my purr motor, which sounds like a perking coffee pot. You can then guess the decibels that my purr motor can reach.
Are you surprised that a fluffy black smoke kitten could be classified as a Maine Coon? If you watch the attached video, you'll learn that Maine Coons come in all colors, from white to black with tabby in between. And please don't be superstitious of black cats! Buster's Friends makes a concerted effort to rescue black cats and kittens from shelters because we are five times more likely to be euthanized than any other color of cat. However, many people who have had a black cat before end up adopting another one because we seem to have such wonderful personalities and are emotionally stable and well balanced.
Smokey Robinson is updated on shots, dewormed, microchipped, FIV/ FeLV negative, and will be ready for his indoor-only home after he's recuperated from his neuter surgery December 28. No de-clawing permitted. His adoption fee is $125 for kittens 9 months old and younger, cash or check payable to Buster's Friends. Please click the contact button if you are interested in Smokey Robinson, and we can let you know exactly where you can meet him.
