My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

MILES ARCHER (TENNESSEE)
Miles is a super cute 3 year-old (estimated), 10-pound Yorkie boy being fostered in Ashland City, TN.
Miles came to UYR from a Good Samaritan who found him wandering the city as a stray. They spent a lot of time and effort trying to find his owners and even contacted the shelter to see if anyone had been looking for him. The shelter was full and could not take him and his finder decided they really wanted to keep him themselves. However, the older, bigger dogs in the home did not accept Miles so it was decided that the best thing for Miles was to become a United Yorkie Rescue boy! When Miles came into rescue, he (and his foster Mom) got some bad news at his first Vet visit. Poor Miles was heartworm positive. This meant that he would have to undergo the very costly and unpleasant treatment to rid his heart and system of these life-threatening invaders. Miles was very lucky in that a great adopter saw his sweet face and read his story right after he came to us and they knew that he had to be theirs! The application checked out great and now all there was to do was wait out the weeks and months until Miles’s heartworm treatment was completed. But sadly for Miles and his adopter circumstances beyond their control and unexpected life changes occurred that meant that they would not be able to adopt him. So now, Miles is up for adoption again and the best news is that he is heartworm free, healthy and ready to find his forever home.
Miles is adorable as you can see from his photo. He has big, full ears and a splendid full tail. Miles gets very attached to his human and he has been known to be a little bit jealous of the other pets in his foster home if he is not the FIRST in line to get belly rubs and kisses from his foster mom. Miles also has a touch of separation anxiety but has gotten used to Foster Mom’s work schedule and does fine without her for the 4 hours stretches she is away from him. An adopter who is home most of the time would be best so that Miles can get all the attention he craves and deserves. Miles is a vocal pup and likes to use his voice to “talk” and to sometimes bark. For this reason, we do not think he would be a good fit for apartment living. A fenced yard would definitely be near the top of this boy’s wish list because this young, playful boy LOVES to run and play outside. Miles would LOVE to be an “only fur-child” so that he could have 100% ownership of his person but he would probably also be okay with one other dog who can stand their ground and won’t let Miles take over. Miles seems to prefer adults to small humans so a home with children over age 14 would be best. Miles does great in the car, walks well on a leash, loves to play with toys and will make someone the perfect companion and reward you with constant affection and attention. If you feel in your heart that Miles Archer is the perfect companion for you please apply to adopt him today because this boy is READY FOR HIS FUREVER HOME NOW! If you have any questions for his foster Mom send them to mandymsmith1@yahoo.com or head on over to our website and apply to adopt him today! To date, we have spent over $2000 getting Miles healthy and adoptable and with your help we have received $335 in donations towards his care. If you are able, Miles and UYR would very much appreciate any additional help his supporters can muster.
