My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey guys, I'm Dovey - short for Turtle Dove! I arrived in Chicago a little while ago from a shelter in Southern Illinois just to find the perfect home! I was picked up as a stray and never reclaimed. I am now working on my basics in preparation for my new family. Could it be you?!

I am a spunky little lady, some may even call me sassy! I enjoy anything active so long as my people are involved. I am incredibly friendly with every human I meet, running up for kisses and snuggles upon sight. Although I still have some manners to learn, I am highly intelligent, so my trainers here think I will learn pretty quickly!

I have already mastered "sit" and "down" and I'm working on "stay" and distractions. Everything's so new, so I am doing my best to sit still and pay attention! I have incredible eye contact and really enjoy pleasing my handler. I am what they call a "ball dog" where I will play fetch until you are tired of it. I enjoy my other toys, too, like tug ropes and fluffies, your choice! I'm not picky.

I do well with other dogs after a proper introduction. I am a lady, after all! I like all the formalities, so I can get to know what the other dog is all about. Then... I play, play, play! I am a silly girl and like to bounce around while I get my zoomies out. It would be awesome if my new home had a back yard to play in, since I've probably never had one before. Or if running or biking is your thing, I'm down for that, too! It is preferred that my adopter understands herding breeds and has had experience with them before. I am high energy and full of spunk! Ya get me?!

My adoption fee comes with a FREE group class at Found Chicago Boarding and Training Center so my new home can work on the basics with me as I adjust. To meet me, please fill out an application or contact brittney@caninesandcompany.org with any questions.
