My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

**Cue Sarah McLachlan song**
Mary arrived to us in desperate condition. She had lived in a closed wooden crate with nickel sized holes containing nothing more than Mary and two dog bowls filled with dirt. She was emaciated, bald with raw skin from mange, and arrived in her foster home on a hope and a prayer that she'd make it. Not only was she medically frail, but the lack of human contact, starvation, and isolation she endured made her weary of her rescuers. Slowly but surely, with an incredible amount of heart and soul poured into her by an angel foster mom named Carol, Mary started to come around. Over the last couple of months, with lots of medical care, regular meals, play time, and love, Mary has transformed from a broken soul pulled from a filthy crate into a beautiful 18mo gal with a striking grey and black speckled coat. After learning what its like to be loved and cared for in her foster home, Mary's rebuilt her trust in humans and is learning to "dog" with the help of her fellow pup friends. The fact that she survived at all is a miracle, but her zest and exuberance for her new life is awe inspiring and reminds us why dogs are simply the best.

There are a few things Mary will require in a forever home. She needs at least one other dog in the home as a playmate but ultimately as a confidence booster. She's most comfortable being around other dogs. Mary also would not be safe off leash or with an invisible fence - so a fenced in yard or an adopter committed to multiple walks per day is a must.

Mary's ready to continue her journey to a happy ending with an awesome forever family that's going to reinforce to her that she's worth being loved and cared for. Mary has been a inspiration to all of the CPR volunteers that have followed her story, prayed for her recovery and cheered for her successes, and we know her new family will wonder how they ever lived without her.
