My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NOTE: LOCAL MARYLAND/DC/VIRGINIA FOSTER NEEDED!!!

Alabama is a very handsome young guy from rural Georgia. Unfortunately in his short 1.5 years of life, he has spent a majority of it in a shelter where he was believed to have been mistreated. But, once we found out about him, we rushed in to save him and find him a family who will love him forever.

Alabama is an approximately 18 month old boy who is believed to possibly be a Whippet/Lab mix. He has had a rough start to life and has the scars to testify to that. But in spite of that, this boy is sweet and craves some love. He is head shy, so initial greetings should not include people trying to pat his head. He does love to have his chest rubbed though. He is great with dogs of all sizes and loves to play. When he plays with his people, he bounds around like a gazelle. He loves to take walks but can get a little excited so a harness is best for him. He is curious about cats for about two seconds and then turns to his squeaky toys which he loves more than treats. He can get testy with other dogs when he’s done playing and they are not, but otherwise has no issues with the other dogs in his current foster home.

Alabama is heartworm negative, neutered, dewormed, microchipped, vaccinated and on HW prevention. He has physical scars on his body which may not fade. He also has some stiffness in his back, but did have an xray done of his spine and shows no bone injury. Alabama also had damage to his pads on his feet when rescued, but these are healing nicely now that he is in a home environment.

Alabama is currently in a foster home in Georgia, but transport can be arranged when we find a local adopter/foster for him to go to. Interested fosters and adopters please email MJsAnimalSanctuary@gmail.com to request a foster application for Alabama. All fosters and adopters subject to vet references, personal references, home visit(s) and meet and greet(s) of all family members. Adoption fee applies at the time of adoption.
