Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Athena is an adult (born approx 5.5.15) spayed female Akita. She is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, heartworm negative, on flea/heartworm prevention, house trained, crate trained, and leash trained.
Athena comes to us from the animal shelter in Spotsylvania, VA. From what we can gather, she has already had at least 3 homes before ending up in the shelter. In March 2018, a family acquired her from someone who was giving her away. In May, they surrendered her to the Stafford County Animal Control because they were moving. A few days later, she was adopted by another family. She did well with them for a while, but then she began to guard her pregnant human and show teeth at the other little humans in the house. They surrendered her to the Spotsylvania Animal Shelter on Nov. 1, 2018. Athena is SUCH a good girl, the shelter was very persistent about asking the Akita rescues to take her. Finally the stars aligned and we had a space open for her! She is fantastic in the crate in her foster home and regularly goes to doggy daycare! She would be happy in a home with a large male to play with or as an only pet. No children under 10 years of age, please!
