Meet Dino! He is a 4 year old hound mix looking for a forever home. The week before Christmas, he was hit by a car on the left side of his body. He was unable to walk and in a lot of pain. His owner could not afford veterinary care so Dino was surrendered to the local shelter. On Christmas Eve, SOAR pulled him from Indianapolis Animal Care and Control and took him to an emergency veterinary hospital where he was evaluated by surgeon. His front leg had a severe nerve injury and his back leg had a fractured tibia His front leg was given a 50% chance of recovery and the back leg would require surgery to repair. Despite the emotional stress and physical pain Dion was suffering, he was sweet, gentle and loving toward everyone. He as fitted for a special harness so his humans could help him stand and walk, then placed in a foster home to begin his road to recovery.

Dino made fast friends with the other 3 dogs and cat in his new home! His back leg had surgery on 12/29 and slowly but surely he regained the use of his front leg. It wasn't long before hew as walking on his own again! He is potty trained, leash trained, knows tricks and is up to date on all his vaccinations. He is slow to warm up to men and after a few minutes is back to his normal self. He loves toys, especially fetching and playing tug. He is a big lap sitter and will cuddle all day if you let him. We believe he would do well in home with a family who can provide him lots of attention and play time once fully recovered. *His cast is completely off and he has another vet visit this week to hopefully be released from care. All medical information will be given to potential adopters.
Dino's adoption fee is $200. To apply for Dino, please visit - https://www.soarinitiative.com/adopt
