My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Meet Emma
YOU MUST HAVE AN APPROVED APPLICATION IN ORDER TO SET UP A TIME TO MEET OUR PETS.

Emma is a lovely 6 year old, 9 pound Yorkie who has spent her entire life so far as a breeder girl. The breeder went out of business recently. Emma has beautiful silky fur.

Emma has had no experience at all with the world outside the small breeding facility and has had very little contact with humans other than being fed and given water.

She is curious and alert, coming to the front of her room when she sees or hears something interesting. She is not shut down, just scared and uncertain about everything except other dogs. She is comfortable with them.

Since Emma is not used to being handled or loved, she stiffens when you pick her up, uncertain about what may happen next. She is shy and skitters away when approached but we can tell that she has a LOT of potential and will be able to acclimate to a great life as a pet. She is wary of someone going behind her or reaching behind her to pick her up.

Emma is fine with sitting on a quiet persons lap and gentle petting right now, just not sure why she is there or what being loved means.

Emmas personality and confidence will blossom in the right home, she will just need some time and patience. We can tell she is a sweetheart, but she will need the right peaceful home in order to be comfortable. A busy, noisy, kid filled home would not work for her.

Please apply for sweet Emma if you have experience with shy or breeder dogs, if you have a fenced yard or potty area that will contain a tiny dog (she could easily skitter away if frightened otherwise), and if you have a friendly, confident little dog in your home who can show Emma the ropes. She is clueless about what it means to be a beloved household pet and needs another dog to show her how to do that.

Emma will need to learn EVERYTHING – how to trust people, how to walk on a leash, housetraining (she does keep her room clean now), how to be a pet, etc. She will need to learn about cars, umbrellas, household noises – you name it, she needs to learn about it!
