My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sheldon is a handsome, about 35 pound puppy who was rescued minutes before death at a high kill shelter in Texas. This boy was brought to the shelter as a stray and seems to have never been in a home. He is very affectionate, playful and high energy, and although he was listed as a year old, we believe he is younger based on his love of chewing. Sheldon is good with bigger dogs, not so much with smaller ones and likely not good with cats. He would be best with older children, as he is still in the jumping and mouthing puppy stage. Sheldon can get bossy with his foster parent’s dog, so we think he would do best in his forever home with either smaller dogs, or with the right dog (he would have to meet the dog(s) beforehand). He is such a smart boy and he listens very well. He does need a bit of work when it comes to being off leash and responding to “come”, but with a little bit of training he’ll be amazing! Sheldon is also working on his house training and manners, and he is being crate trained. He appears to have separation anxiety and can be destructive when left alone if not in his crate. He also seems to have some food guarding issues, so he would need to be fed separately if another dog is in the house. He will slobber you with kisses and happily share your bed at night, if that's fine with you. Because of his lack of training and high energy, his adopter should be dog experienced and willing to work with him. A fenced yard for him to play in or a very active, outdoorsy adopter would be ideal so that he gets enough exercise for his energy level. We are willing to pay for training for Sheldon and are looking into anti-anxiety medication, as well. With proper training, discipline and exercise, we believe Sheldon will be a fantastic four-legged companion. If you think you can give this sweet but rambunctious pup a home, he will be furever grateful, loving and loyal!
