My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*Updated Description*
*New Photos uploaded weekly on Amber's Angels Rescue's Facebook Page*

Age/weight: 5 years old, 25lbs
Medical: Spayed, fully vaccinated, recent dental on flea/tick and heart worm prevention
Training: Gidget knows commands such as sit, lay down, heal, and "sit pretty." Gidget is completely housebroken, crate trained (but has earned the freedom of her foster home), and walks nicely on a leash and knows how to heal. Ride well in a car. Trainer, Sarah Hodgson has graciously offered to work with the right family to help with whatever- acclamation, training rapport building etc.

Note from foster parent (Updated 2/25/19): It's no secret. Gidget will be the total package for the right family. She has perfectly-balanced energy level where she would be happy to go for a walk or stay home and cuddle in her doggy bed or her *favorite* human's grey chair all day (see photos). When Gidget sees me come home or someone she knows, she does a happy dance, wiggling around and folding her body in half. She can be very affectionate and likes to sit right next to me on the couch for pets. She likes walks/hikes, and she wears a harness for her walks and she will come happily, running when she see's it. Also, she loves to romp in the yard. She LOVES to be petted or snuggled with on the couch. Gidget has even gotten more comfortable to sneak up on my bed for cuddles and pets in the morning. I will often encourage her but a few times, I have woken up with kisses from her! She also has some favorite bones and toys that she likes to snuggle with (stuffed sheep, and stuffed sheep.)

During first time interactions with new people, she may not want anyone to touch her. It took her about 2-4 weeks to really blossom and bond to me. Whenever I come home she greets me very happily but when I have leaned down to touch her, she will scurry away- once or twice she has even cried and ran from me. She wants people to love her from a far and has been okay with me. She is not aggressive with people but she will get scared when people run up to her or try to touch her head on. This is something Gidget is working on with her humans and trainer- and hopefully this is something her new family will help her with.

Gidget loves me, the people she knows and trusts here at the rescue and in her foster home but it takes time. Gidget sleeps in a dog bed at night and is baby gated into her foster mom’s bedroom at night. Gidget was once crated when her foster family wasn't home or at night but she is housebroken, and she has earned the freedom of her foster family’s home.

She would love nothing more than a kind, calm, gentle person and a safe, loving home to call her own. Gidget is an easygoing gal just wants to be someone's stable and steady companion for the rest of her life. If this is you, please email, ambersangelsrescue@yahoo.com. If you are interested you can call t 914-980-9256 Monday-Friday 8:30-7PM or Saturday and Sunday between 10-2PM. If your call goes to voicemail, please follow up with a text. Please include in your email/text, a little bit about your home, lifestyle and who you share your home with. If you have current dogs or pets you must provide proof that your pets have been seen yearly for annual examinations, and vaccines. Documentation or a vet reference will suffice. Amber’s Angels Rescue volunteers will call the vet reference. Providing this information is not optional and is the most important step when we are processing the application.
