My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This dog is being fostered in Charlotte until he can find his forever home.

No Phone Calls: Please fill out an application and email it back to us to be approved. This nice 8 month to just over a year old boy will be a great companion for someone to love as long as you are willing to work on house training issues. We suggest a securely fenced yard as he is a very active, happy, happy cocker boy. He loves people, does well with other dogs and is a sweet boy.

My name is Rufus. I am a smaller blonde, very active Cocker Spaniel boy with a natural tail that was never docked. The shelter told these folks that I am about 2 years old, but the rescue vet says I am only about 8 months to just over a year old by looking at my teeth. I was found as a stray wondering the streets by a good Samaritan who was driving here in NC. To keep me safe, I was taken to a local shelter to see if my owner was looking for me. After several days of being on hold and no owner showed up, the staff asked for rescue help.

I am heartworm negative, updated on shots and I am now neutered. I am a very active, friendly, loving cocker boy. At the shelter I was in a temporary foster home where I did well with a poodle and an 8 year old child, so a family with children 8 and older is okay. I will need a home where I can get lots and lots of love and attention and I will do well with an active family who would love a nice companion with a great disposition. I will need your help with house training, I guess the folks in my past just didn't teach me or maybe I was kept outside. This said, please give me time to adjust to a new environment and be willing to help me with my house training issues. To help me with this issue a foster home opened up and they will start working with me to help me adjust better to a forever home. I will be a wonderful companion for you to love. A fenced yard is suggested because I am a happy, very busy youngster. If not, you will always need to keep me on a leash hooked to a harness when I go outside so that I don't get loose. I will be a great addition to your family and I will do well with a playful doggie companion who can be my pal. I am a loving, playful, active guy who would enjoy being your new best friend and indoor house companion. I like to be held and loved on, I do well at the vet and I am a good boy when taken to a groomer. One big added plus is a fenced yard to keep me safe when I am put outside to play and do my business. Hang on tight, maybe you and I can be walking partners to get our exercise and explore the great outdoors. Please, please be patient with me on house training, I need to learn what is expected to be a good indoor dog.

My adoption fee is: $400. Please fill out an application to be approved.
