My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

We rescued Hope and her eight pups in December, after they’d been turned into the shelter after they’d been found at the city dump.

Somewhere before we picked up the pups from the shelter, they had been exposed to Parvo. By some miracle 2 of the pups were unaffected, but like clockwork, the others began showing symptoms. Stacy first and then Cinder.

We were devastated that after days in intensive care, Stacy waged a courageous battle but she lost her fight with the virus. Cinder also succumbed to the illness and died in his foster mom’s arms on the way to the hospital.

The remaining pups also fell to the virus and were kept alive in ICU with fluids, meds, feeding tubes and plasma transfusions. There were countless sleepless nights, not knowing if they would make it through the night.  In the end and thousands of dollars later, the pups pulled through one by one and they returned to their foster home to complete their rehab. That was on Christmas night, and what a Christmas it was knowing they had survived the worst of it.

They are now approximately three to four months old, and all doing well now growing and getting stronger by the day!  Each of them have their own distinct personalities and they are curious and eager to start experiencing life!  They have some catching up to do and can’t wait to get started! Hope, the pups’ mom is an Akita mix, even though the pups look like purebred Akitas. Hope is exceptionally trusting and affectionate and all the pups received her loving genes.

After all they’ve been through, we want to be sure we place them in their forever homes, that best suit their personalities and requirements as growing Akita puppies.

o We are seeking homes with Akita experience and no small children.

o A flexible schedule or the ability to work from home is a must, as these pups cannot be left alone for hours at a time without care and supervision.

o Our adoption process requires an application, phone interview and a home visit.
