Howdy! My name is Gilly and I'm a happy, well behaved 15 pound, 5 year old who recently came to Minnesota from Texas. I live with my foster family and their dog and romp and play in the fenced back yard. I spent most of my life in a cage so now all my experiences are fun learning ones. Since it is now a bit warmer outdoors (it was really cold when I first arrived here!), my house training is progressing and it’s getting much better, but I’m not absolutely perfect. I love daily walks on a leash and cuddling on the couch with my family, Best of all is that I get to sleep on my foster mom’s big bed and I sleep peacefully through the entire night. Small squeaky toys are fun for me, and of course, food is one of my biggest pleasures. I am quiet and am always trying to please. Just help me know what you want, and I’ll try to do it! I love to just sit on your lap and stare into your eyes; my foster mom says it just melts her heart. If you like to cuddle and hug for a long time, I am your boy.
Gilly will benefit from a home with experienced dog owners who will be patient with his lack of training, but appreciate and understand his willingness to please. An ideal home for him would be where someone is around a good part of the day, or able to come in and out throughout the day. He would do best not being alone for more than 5 or 6 hours. He would do okay with older, respectful children, and active adults who will include Gilly in many family activities. A fenced-in yard would be a real treat as he loves to leap and run like a gazelle.
Gilly is in great health, is neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped, has had a dental, and is on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. His adoption fee is $320.00 plus sales tax of $24.08 for a total of $344.08. Gilly’s foster mom would like his adopters to live within 25 miles of Edina, MN and hope that they will attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in September each year.
