My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Leo is a sweet and very loving (he actually give human-like hugs!) American Staffordshire Terrier mix who apparently was either abandoned or lost in the Bronx when he was picked up by a caring resident. Leo was brought to the city shelter, along with a loving and gentle Chow Chow who had also been abandoned in a yard when his former owner moved. At first, it was thought that the two male dogs had lived together because they were seemingly bonded to one another. But, they were only with each other briefly. Leo is not a big dog (only about 40 lbs) and he is estimated to be between 3 and 5-years-old. Although initially a little shy when first meeting new people, he quickly warms up to those who are kind towards him. Leo appears to be totally housebroken and he is fairly easy to walk. He is a quiet, seemingly well behaved dog who seems to mind his manners and take directives well. Although life may not have been kind to Leo in the past, (judging by his thin condition and having been found as a "stray"), we have no doubt, that in a loving home, Leo will flower to become a loving and devoted sweetheart! After all, how many dogs do you know who will wrap their "arms" around you and rest their heads in your lap? Leo is such a dog despite the false and undeserved reputation of his "breed." Please look past the "labels" to the diamond in the ruff that is truly Leo. He will love you for the rest of his life! If interested in Leo, please CALL US (212) 427-8273, rather than email. Currently Leo is in a boarding kennel and we would love to get him into a foster or adoptive home as quickly as possible in order to help other dogs like him. Leo has a heart of gold who only needs now a golden heart to provide him with a real and responsible home. Leo will reward his people with years of love, loyalty and oh, those gentle, devoted hugs!
