Sugar Baby had reservations about other dogs, and was hesitant about people when we first met her - we suspect that she was taken away from her mom and litter mates too young. When this happens - any time before 10 weeks of age - they don't learn important social skills, like appropriate dog to dog interaction and play, and bite inhibition. We weren't worried, though - she passed our temperament assessment, and between the training, and the interaction with other young pups, we were confident we could catch her up!! When we moved her into the jail, she came in with eyes wide open - checking out this new place, and all these new people. Within 10 minutes after all new dogs were introduced, she plopped down on her tummy, and seemed to say "This just might be all right!"
This little ball of fluff is a Shiba Inu or Chow Chow mix - and 100% adorable! She is about 7 months old, and around 35 pounds.
Sugar Baby has now graduated from the program and is available for adoption! Her preferred home would be one where she is alone for no more than about 4 hours a day, so that she continues to be well socialized.
