Our hearts are breaking but we are looking to rehome our sweet German Shepherd. Sadly since he is not good with kids or comfortable being social (being in crowded loud places or having people over) we don't see him being a long term fit in our home. We have a cat and he is good with most dogs, though he still tests whether he can assert dominance on young puppies. He is VERY energetic and smart. He has gone through extensive training and has a good hold on most basic commands. Ideally, he needs 3 to 4 hours of exercise a day. Therefore, our preferences would be to find him a home with another dog for him to play with, more space or land to run and/or a ret K9 Cop/Vet/Single person/Adult Couple with experience with Shepherds and how to exercise his mind. He is a typical shepherd in that he is incredibly loving, dotting and snuggling on those he knows (his pack or family) but quite suspicious of strangers. He is quite protective of my husband and I which can be displayed as aggression.
