Amani means peace in Swahili, which speaks a lot to her character. She of course has crazy moments of energy, like all cats, and she loves to play with feathery things. Most of her time, however, is spent lying around, preferably on someone's lap. When we first adopted her and her brother at about 10 weeks old, they had never been around their mother who abandoned them at approximately a week old. As a result, they had been around humans constantly their whole lives and were very friendly as a result. Amani (Mani for short) used to suck her brother's toe like a pacifier (not sure why, maybe an issue with weening?) and now sucks her own toe whenever she is relaxed and on a lap. It doesn't seem like she does it any other time, and it doesn't seem to cause any problems for her. She allows me to trim her nails (with mild protest), has never had a bathroom accident, she doesn't rip things with her nails, she has never hurt anyone on purpose. She is a sweet cuddle bug and we love her.
