My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

4/27/19 - ADOPTION PENDING!

Adoption Fee: $250
Fostered in Texas
Age: 8.5 years
Weight: 3 lbs.

**Alpha personality with other dogs, but can co-exist; no children; needs someone that is home the majority of the time; dislocated right hip when jumping and had surgery on 11/16/18. She has an appointment on 4/23/19 with the surgeon for a check-up.

4/23/19 - Coco went for her follow-up with the orthopedic surgeon today and he verified what we had suspected. Unfortunately, her hip is once again luxated. She has been walking pretty well (holding it up every now and then), so the doctor said that he would not be anxious to take her back into surgery. The scar tissue and muscle around the hip/joint are helping to keep it in place, which is why she is walking on it and not completely lame. The doctor said if the same toggle surgery that was performed back in November was redone, there is a high chance it would luxate again. He doesn't recommend hip replacement since the chances of luxation are high after that as well. The only option at this point would be a FHO (femoral head osteotomy); but he said he would only recommend this if she starts to exhibit pain and/or stops using the leg entirely.

Coco is a pup who quite possibly could need surgery later on. This is something to consider when thinking of adopting her as this surgery is expensive. She definitely should only be seen and operated on by a board certified specialist.
