My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Sadly Blaze and Darla came from a massive hoarding situation in Fresno. They came to us with their faces covered in bites from the older dogs on the property and they were skin and bones. Their faces are healing nicely and as a precaution the vet gave them a round of
antibiotics. Three meals a day are helping them to catch up on their nutrition, though they still eat like there are 30 dogs behind them.

Blaze and Darla are mostly shepherd and possibly cattle dog. They will be medium to large in size. All of their lives were spent living in the dirt so they are currently working on their house manners. We estimate they are in the 6 month range and they are both very energetic. The first thing we are working on is to stay down. They are so thirsty for affection, their first inclination is to jump up to be petted. So far we have not seen any aggressive tendencies.

Like all large breed dogs, these two will need plenty of exercise and training. Puppy school is highly recommended. Big dog experience and a yard with appropriate fencing is a must. Due to their energy level we don’t recommend families with young children.

Blaze and Darla are the very definition of dogs in need. They will need patience and dedication to become the ideal canine companion.

Blaze is the most happy when he can lean against you. He is very trusting and with his lopsided goofy ears, we think he’s pretty irresistible!

Darla is trying hard to learn her manners. When she forgets you can see she is disappointed in herself. Nobody deserves a second chance in life more than these two!
