Bottom line up front: Sandy needs someone with a house and a yard who has some life stability, experience with dogs, and protected outdoor living space. I will not adopt him into a situation in an apartment, or in a condo, or with students. This is better for you and him.

Sandy is very mix of Golden Retriever and German Shepherd. He is 24 months old. Being part Golden, he is sweet and smart and craves a lot of fetch-playing time (a LOT of fetch). Being part German Shepherd, he is a little anxious and protective, and can be aggressive toward new people or things. He barks a lot when he's in guarding mode, which means he barks when he sees or hears anyone pass the doors or windows. This is why he's not suited for an apartment. He also needs a fenced yard because he will run in front of moving cars.

When he meets new people he can be very threatening, but he warms up quickly if the person remains calm. He is fine with cats and other dogs when he is off-leash.
