My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

*** A FAMILY WITH CHILDREN WANTED FOR OUR CALM, FRIENDLY AND KID-LOVING MAX***

Max was found on the side of a dirt road in Matapalo on the Osa Peninsula. He had half his hair gone from a bad skin fungus and a belly filled with worms; truly a pathetic sight. Seeing a vet and getting medication and anti parasitic treatment helped cure the infections and deworm him.

He flew in to Toronto a week ago and is being fostered in Kitchener.

Max is very loyal and calm boy, described by his foster moms as a sweetheart; a precious soul with not a mean bone in his body. While doing one of his favourite things in the world (besides eating and playing ‘catch’) which is napping, and realizing his foster mom was taking his pictures, he started wagging his tail and asking for belly rubs.

He is great with the boys in the foster home and was fascinated by the images changing while his human brother played a video game. As a matter a fact, Max loves children so much that the Costa Rican rescue has asked if we could please find him a family with school-aged, respectful children in the home; thus our plea for families with children looking for an amazing dog to contact us.

He likes other dogs and cats although needs reminders not to chase them, but only sometimes. He loves being a part of daily activities and going ons.

He is fully house broken and as a matter a fact, he has never had an accident in the house. The puppy in him still loves chewing, and the foster family says that it’s safe to say he has a shoe fetish: thus a family that keeps their nice shoes away or doesn’t care about the shoes is preferred.

He is still a young boy, so will need a family that can put up with his antics, and has experience in training or is willing to take him to obedience training classes (both would be even more beneficial). He is a medium energy level dog.

An active family living in the country where Max could run and enjoy the nature daily is preferred.
He’s neutered and UTD.
