My story

Periwinkle came to the Refuge as a kitten in the fall of 2008, together with her mom Princess and eight brothers and sisters. They are known as The Moncure Cats because they were rescued in Moncure, N.C. Periwinkle is one of many black cats at the Refuge and sadly, black cats are often overlooked by people who are interested in adopting. She is very shy, and will need to be adopted by someone who is very patient with her, and can help her learn to trust people.

More about this rescue

Siglinda Scarpa is a potter and a sculpter who owns 3 acres of fenced-in property in which she houses up to 258 homeless cats. The Refuge is a sanctuary for these cats, who never have to leave, but if they are adoptable, the cats are posted on our website and taken to adoption events in the community. The more cats that we find homes for, the more cats we can rescue.
