My story

Marley is an 11 year old smooth-coat Jack Russel Terrier mix that was surrendered to the Henrico county animal shelter. She may be 11, but this girl does not act her age! She loves to play with the big dogs and thinks the small dogs are too boring. She has the full JRT personality. She is very loving, but does not feel safe if you try to pick her up. Her foster family is working on this with her, but for now she is muzzled for nail trims, the rare bath, and vet visits. She is great on the leash and prefers a harness to a collar. She knows her name and responds to it very well. Her ideal home would be with a moderately active family with children over 10, that will take her on several walks a day. She is house-trained, but as all dogs do, will require time to adjust to a new schdule and situation. She is fully vaccinated, micro-chipped, and will be spayed before adoption.

More about this rescue

Many dogs have come through and found their special place and people, but many have not. It is the mission of Houlagans' Rest to be the rescue of last resort. We save and prepare for adoption dogs that have been rejected by others and are scheduled to be euthanized. This website is dedicated to help those dogs find their "forever homes".
