My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

NOTICE: Like most all reputable rescue groups, we do NOT adopt our Poodles to families who live outside a 1 days drive from our location here in central Minnesota.

THIS TINY FEMALE POODLE (born 12/15/18) had sadly broken her left front and left rear legs when she was just a few weeks old. It was an accident and the breeder’s Vet did all they could to help. But at 3 months old, her bones were not healing correctly, so the breeder surrendered this tiny 2 pound girl to us.

Our Vet had taken various x-rays of her broken legs and then involved a Specialist. They found that her rear leg has a broken tibia and fibula. Our Vet put a splint on that leg which required it to be changed every week.

The front leg appears to have healed as she uses that leg. Despite all that has happened to this tiny little girl, she comes with a big attitude of fun and joy! What a inspiration she is to us and everyone at our Vet’s office. They have named her “Peggy Sue”.

After 4 weeks in her splint, x-rays were taken that showed her bones (the fibula and tibia) did not heal. My Vet had tried. Because there was no muscle, no blood supply or living tissue left, the bones did not heal.

Sadly, Peggy Sue’s entire left leg was amputated on Monday, April 29th. Here is some information about that procedure from ACVS (American College of Veterinary Surgeons):

LIMB AMPUTATION “The most common location for removing a damaged or diseased limb in dogs and cats is up high where the limb meets the body. This is so that any remaining portion of the leg does not become a problem for the pet. Any portion of a limb that remains may become traumatized during daily activities or interfere with movement.
Partial limb amputations and prosthetic (artificial limb) use in pets is a new treatment option for some patients. As with other procedures this is not a good option for all pets and all owners. Stump management and prosthetic use requires diligent daily care and attention. Some dogs may need several prosthetics over their lifetime.”

Please understand that Peggy Sue is NOT in pain and has already lived most of her life without use of her left leg. She is just fine. Attached is a video of her taken just 10 days after her leg was surgically removed. As you can see, this girl loves to run and play while all the other Poodles stay out of her way.

Peggy Sue has been Vet checked “HEALTHY”. She now weighs 2 1/2 pounds. Even without her left leg, she is still an active, silly and such a loving puppy girl.

PLEASE NOTE:
*A FENCED YARD WILL BE REQUIRED!
*NO cats, NO large dogs, NO aggressive or assertive dogs and NO young children!
*She enjoys being with other little silly dogs, but will also be a great “only” dog for a family to spoil.
*Preference will be given to families with past TINY TOY experience who can train and work with this special needs little girl.

To the right family, Peggy Sue’s adoption fee is $500.00, which includes our Minnesota state sales tax. She is up to date on all of her shots, and has been wormed. A spay contract will be required where your options will be to return Peggy Sue to us by 10 months of age for her spay and Home Again microchip. OR your Vet can spay her and we will then offer you a $100.00 rebate.

Her adoption fee also includes a tiny leash, collar, harness, her kennel, a bag of quality puppy food, treats, tiny toys (which she loves!) a folding toy box, new blanket, a big, soft doggie bed, along with lots of good information to help your puppy adoption move forward on the right paw!
