My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi! My names Hunter, I am a 5 year old boxer mix who is desperately looking for a family to call mine forever. I absolutely love to play outside and be in the sunshine. I’m a little shy at first and can be a little high maintenance but just give me time. I’ve been through a lot of places and different people. I’m just trying to make sense of it all. I love love love to play with other dogs and I'm training to be the worlds fastest sprinter (I just love to run when I get excited) I’m a very smart dog. I like to signal when it’s time for a potty break. I pride myself on being very good on a leash for my foster daddy. I do not like cats! Please let me come join your family I’ll show you love like no other and be grateful everyday.

From Hunters foster dad:
Hunter is an amazing, loving, gentle beautiful boxer. He is so incredibly handsome and well mannered. He does a fantastic job at not house training. He’s great on a leash and absolutley love love loves to be out in the sunshine. We have started doing some off the leash training with him and he has been doing fantastic. He answered to his name “hunter” very well and usually the first time. He knows how to sit and lay down. But he does it on his time. Treats help. He absolutely loves to chew on bones and chewy treats. He gets so excited. We have been working very hard on making his “kennel” a safe place for him. It has actually become one of his favorite places to be. When he has an accident or does something he's not supposed to. He retreats to his crate. It’s so cute to watch him go to it, lay down and look at me with those eyes. Its like he's saying “dad I’m sorry. I really didn’t mean to. Please forgive me”. There’s just no way you can stay mad at him. He knows nothing but love and he’s shown us love everyday since we got him home. It breaks my heart to write this because I just cannot believe someone would abandon such an amazing loving gentle pet. He has come such a long way in the short time we’ve had him and I just know for a fact he’s going to make an amazing pet for someone.

A few things to expect on your first week with hunter.
1. He will be very high energy for the first couple days with some nervous panting. Please give him time he is just very scared and nervous. He will calm down quickly once he gets used to all the new smells, sounds and people.
2. We learned very quickly that Hunter has never been on a human bed before. He was so excited when he first got up on it. He just spun around in circles. He’s still learning how to relax and lay on the bed. He thinks it’s the place he goes to get the best loving and cuddling.
3. I cannot stress this one enough NO CATS!
4. Hunter is the most happy and calm when he can see you. He really doesn’t like to be out of eyesight unless he’s playing outside with other dogs.
5. Hunter loves every member of your household.
6. Brush brush brush!! Hunter loves to be brushed and pampered. He can sit there for hours while you brush him. He’s so silly.

(Just a little tip we learned for that first day or 2 hunter is an over dog, he doesn’t like his neck or chin to be petted until he trusts you. It took a good week for him to finally give me that first kiss on my face. He usually just bumps his nose into yours. One day he just started wagging his tail and giving kisses and it almost made me cry.
