My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hey everybody, my name is Scout! I had a pretty rough start to life - I was found roaming the streets and it was pretty clear that I had been on my own for some time. Most of my teeth are missing from rummaging around for food, and worst of all, the vet found pellets from a shotgun throughout my body. Despite all of these hardships, I came into Alive Rescue with my tail wagging and plenty of love to give. I have adapted well to living with my wonderful foster family, who refer to me as a big teddy bear. I've learned to roll over when my foster mom walks by to steal all of the belly rubs, and don't pull at all when I go on walks (unless one of those pesky squirrels shows up). I've met so many new people since being rescued, and I love them all! I'm an older guy just looking for a home to retire to and a family to love endlessly. If any of this sounds like the pup you are after, apply for me today!

All of our pets start their journey in Memphis Tennessee where they remain in loving foster families until they are adopted.

In order to qualify for ALIVE’s program all of the following steps must be met: • You must be at least 24 years of age and be able to provide ALIVE with proof of age. • Any current pets must be up to date on vaccinations, and be spayed/neutered. Exceptions to this will only be considered if proof of a medical explanation is provided. • If you currently rent, you must provide a landlord’s phone number and a copy of your executed lease. • All members of the family living in the home where the animal will be placed must be interviewed. • Allow an ALIVE Rescue Memphis representative into your home for a visit to insure that your home is safe for the potential new dog or cat. • Be able and willing to spend the time and money necessary to provide training, medical treatment and proper care for a pet.

Due to the extremely high volume of inquiries we receive, we ask that you submit an application immediately to start the adoption process. We try very hard to include all pertinent information in our bios. We are excited to help you find your new family member. However, ALIVE Rescue Memphis is operated 100% by volunteers. We want to spend our time saving dogs and assisting those adopters who have taken the time to complete an application. Thank you for understanding.

Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff.
