UPDATE 12/1/19: Chewy is 8 months old and being fostered in MD. He is awaiting his forever home! Chewy is about 20 lbs and is not expected to get over 30 lbs full grown. He is almost entirely housebroken - he has an accident every once in awhile because he makes no noise, but goes and sits by the door when he has to go out. If no one notices him, he eventually has to go! He rides well in the car and is friends with cats and dogs. He is very food motivated which should make training a breeze. He already knows Sit, Stay and Off! With just a little more training he will be a super little family guy! See the updated photos of this handsome fellow! Little Chewbacca (Chewy) and his brother and sister (Klinger and Trixie) are super lucky little guys. Their poor mom was taken to a vet, supposedly as a stray, who was pregnant. When the owners found out mom had heartworms (not contagious to the puppies), they asked the vet to kill mom, because they had no interest in dealing with heartworms or even taking mama to the local no kill shelter right down the road. Thankfully for Chewy and his siblings, the vet decided to save the little family. Now that the pups are born, they are in our rescue looking for their own homes!
Chewy is currently 7 weeks old and about 10 lbs. Mom is a rat terrier mix and the father is unknown. Chewy is the most laid back and chill of all the pups. He very closely resembles his mother and his sister Trixie. Chewy is up to date on all age appropriate vaccines, has been dewormed, is on heartworm prevention, and will be neutered and microchipped prior to adoption. Chewy is working on his housebreaking and doing great so far. Chewy loves his siblings and will do well with another dog or cat in the home. He is currently being fostered in a home with both another dog and cats. Chewy prefers to sleep with her humans and follows his humans everywhere they go! As his name implies, he is a chewer! He loves to chew just about anything!
Unfortunately, we do not have any local puppy fosters, so Chewy will likely remain in Georgia until an adoptive family is found, at which time he will come to MD and go right into the approved adopter's home, providing the meet and greet goes well.
