Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Meet our resident miracle Jolene ❤️ Unfortunately, life has not been kind to this sweet soul. Jolene came to us from a shelter that had seized her along with 44 other dogs off a property. The vast majority of these dogs were suffering a slew of medical issues along with the repercussions of severe neglect, and Jolene found herself in this category. Through a series of small and large miracles falling into place, Jolene has come thru to the other side, and is hoping to find the family that will be just the right fit for her. She will have small but lingering lifelong health issues that we have found to be controlled by meds that completely alleviate her symptoms. Her medical history is very typical to that of a long term breeding dog. She came to us urgently in need of treatment for her pyometra ( severe life threatening infection of the uterus- found only in non-spayed females) severe skin, eye and ear infections , chronic gastritis ( most likely due to years of a poor diet ) a collapsing trachea (exacerbated by her kennel cough ) and was severely emaciated with a pronounced heart murmur. She was also found to be missing her lower right front jaw bone - most likely due to chronic untreated dental infections ! How can one dog be put thru all of this?!? Ask Jolene, because under all of that lay a sweet, gentle soul of a dog looking for some understanding. Jolene will probably never be that ‘tail wagging, licking, run up to you’ kinda dog, but she has come miles from that shaking, shut down shell of a dog we first rescued. While she has lived with other dogs , large and small, male and female, she mostly keeps to herself- she is very aloof, but made some significant progress with her foster family and now loves sitting on laps and enjoys short cuddle sessions! She is not completely house trained , but will not fight you to wear a doggie diaper! She will be on heart meds that will cost approximately $35/month and need occasional stomach meds for chronic, but infrequent belly issues. We know this may seem like a lot, but Jolene is a sweet girl who has been through so much and deserves a forever family of her own! Could you open your heart and home to this little survivor?
To give Jolene a new forever home, please complete an application at www.seniordoghaven.org. It can be found under the adoption process tab. Please send questions to info@seniordoghaven.org. Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file.
