My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.

Gorgeous, 2 year old Ginny is looking for her forever family! She was born in Washington state in one of our foster homes and was previously adopted by an owner that decided she wasn't worth his time. This poor girl came back into our rescue recently with an awful skin condition (that is almost healed) and very skinny. We are thankful to have her back and are now looking for her FOREVER home!

Ginny is a short and stocky bully breed mix weighing 60 pounds. Her favorite activity is cuddling, if she had it her way she’d spend the entire day on her humans’ laps getting petted! Ginny didn’t have much training in her previous home but is learning fast. She does great on walks using a prong collar and with time will be able to transition out of that. She can’t be off leash in an unfenced area though, running free is simply too much fun! This athletic girl can clear a 6 foot fence if left unsupervised. Maybe agility is in her future?? With supervision she’s more than happy to stay in a fenced area with you. She would just rather be with you than alone so will go looking  for you if left alone outside.

Ginny struggles with anxiety and will need a patient owner to support her and show her the world is not such a scary place. She’s improved incredibly over the past couple weeks back with her foster mom. She gets scared when dogs approach her on leash and she does have some separation anxiety. Ginny takes a very inexpensive anti anxiety med that really helps with these issues! With time and patience the vet thinks she should be able to wean off of it. She can currently be left home for a few hours at a time. She will whine a bit at first then settles on a couch or dog bed to wait for me to come home. Her ideal owner would be home a lot or someone who is happy to take her with them a lot of the time. She would thrive with another medium or large size dog that is submissive and likes to play/cuddle. She is currently living with her brother and Ginny is much more confident around him! She cuddles and plays with him for hours every day. She is not good with small dogs however as she is much too curious and doesn’t respect their boundaries. Same with other small animals. With medium/large dogs, she’s great with a proper introduction and patience.

If Ginny sounds like the fit for you and you have the time and LOVE to give, please read on for how to apply to be her forever home!

As a purely foster based rescue we have no central location at which you can visit our dogs, consequently we only honor meeting requests from preapproved adopters.  You are welcome to fill in our online application at www.myaarf.org; please fill this in as fully as you can.  It won't obligate you to anything or any particular dog but gives us a great place from which to begin the matching process.  Please allow 24-48 hours for a response from our busy volunteers. Adoption Fee is $300 which includes all transport, vetting (including spay) and microchipping.
