My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hello, everyone. Baxter here. I recently arrived with my scruffy “brother,” Scout. We’re waiting on our “glamour shots,” but here are some pics of us for now … and here’s my story …

I’ve been around the block a bit … and now I’m one of the new kids here. (Apparently, some of you will get that reference) I found my wonderful family about four years ago at the shelter after growing up in an abusive environment for my first year or two. I was a little timid and would dart if anyone moved too quickly … and I really didn’t like men. My adopted family knew about this and they were willing to work with me … and work with me they did! Yay!

They taught me all kinds of things, like trust, and that not all humans are bad … and then they taught me about this magical thing called ball/fetch! Ball is good! That totally won me over, and I even started to enjoy things like sitting on laps and belly scratches.

I am a bit of an outdoor boy now. I love to lie in the sun and chase lizards … and anything slimy on the ground … which, unfortunately, is kind of why I’m at rescue now. The place we moved to has Copperheads and other dangerous critters. I’m, well, “all Terrier” and don’t know when to back off sometimes. I have wrestled with snakes more than once, so my family decided it was best I find a new, safer haven in which to run and hunt.

So … that’s my story … Other details? I’m now about 5-6 years old and I’m a big boy around 25 lbs. Some hair, mostly muscle. I love my brother, Scout, and it would be cool if we were adopted together, but we’re not bonded. He’s pretty chill. I’m fine with other dogs, but I do like to announce my presence — and I’ll “talk” to you humans, too! I’m good with kids and, now, both men and women. No cats, though, please. I like the chase!

You will need to copy and paste the link but it takes you directly to the information.

Please note: We are a small volunteer run rescue. We will respond to your requests for information as soon as we can but it would REALLY help if you go to our webpage http://www.jackrusselladoptions.org/adopt-a-dog/
and read our adoption policies and procedures before contacting us. That speeds up the process but forgive us if we are a bit slow sometimes; the dogs come first.
