My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Hi!! Have you seen Homeward Bound, The Incredible Journey?? Sometimes my foster mom references Chance and says I act just like him…. Sometimes she even calls me Chance by accident… I don’t care, I will respond to any name if it gives me attention. I have been told I have an exuberant personality, I am not super sure what that means but I know that I love life and everything that comes with it. I love dogs, people, swimming, going for walks, playing fetch, wrestling and playing chase with my dog friends, but most of all… just snuggling on the couch. But, be warned, if you get up from our snuggles; I will follow you and see what you are doing because I just love you and can’t stand to be left out of anything.

I have been in this family called a foster home for a little while now. I do really like them but I feel like I need my own family that will really focus a little more on ME!! I will miss my foster siblings (cat, dogs, and humans) but they are a busy family that already has their own dogs and I know I am not here to stay. While I am here though, I have had so much fun cuddling with the kids (ages 5 and 11), playing with them, chasing the cat (maybe no cats in my forever home??), learning new tricks, and bonding with my doggie friends (a 7 year old Shih tzu and a 3 year old pittie mix).

I have been told I am good with other dogs, as I get along great with the dogs in my foster home, but I have met other dogs that have not liked me as much as I liked them. I heard my foster mom say it is because I move quick and am “exuberant”. Not sure what that means exactly, but I just love to play and I see no need to be calm or not play… life is short!! I want to have fun. So if I do have new dog friends in my forever home I would ask politely that they want to play!!

I have learned many tricks and commands at this foster home that I am at. I know sit, stay, lay down, off, shake, bow, roll over, come… I know my name really well (Sprite or Chance, you know-whatever!) and I come running when you call me. Unless it is raining out and you want me to go outside… then I might need a little bribing. See, I like the water to swim in but I am not so sure when it comes to water from the sky… I am not scared of thunderstorms or anything tho, I am a big tough guy.

I like my kennel and will go in without a problem. I do like to get treats when I get in my kennel as a bonus (I don’t really need them but don’t tell foster mom that!!) Don’t tell my foster mom and dad this either, sometimes when they are gone I scoot my kennel closer to where my dog buddies are… just to see them. It makes me feel better when I am alone during the day. I like my kennel just fine, but it makes me feel better if I can see them ;)

I am housebroken and I sit and stay for my food every day. I really love food and I really love treats so I will do almost anything for them, but I also really love my people so sometimes my person’s praise and pets are just as good!! I don’t have any problems sharing my food or treats with my buddies, I am not selfish that way.

My foster mom says that I am such a good boy and I will get a good family. I would love to have my own family so I can train them. I like to go in the garbage and sometimes when I am super excited I like to jump on people, so my hope is that I can train my family to allow both of those things (JUST KIDDING, no not really) I am not super picky about my forever family, I would love to have doggie friends but would also just love kids, or just love someone that would make me part of their family…. I am not a high maintenance dog when it comes to that. Please ask to meet me! I promise to fill your life with exuberance and lots of love!!!

Our Thoughts on Visual Breed Identification
Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable. For most of our adoptable Cupids we are only guessing at the predominant breed or breed mix. We think it’s most important is to get to know each dog as an individual! We then do our best to describe each of our adoptable Cupids based on their personalities in order to determine whether they’ll make good companions based on prospective adopters’ lifestyles. Dog behavior is not exclusive to breed — it’s a complex mix of nature and nurture.
