My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

Kate is ten year old sable and white collie that come to TSCR as an owner surrender. She has always been with another dog and can be unsure when taken out on leash by herself, but her foster mom has taken her on multiple leash walks with her two dogs.

Kate potties when asked to and walks beautifully on the leash. She is housebroken and does not jump up on furniture. Kate will stare you down at mealtime but doesn’t jump up for food. She has never been crated but she sleeps well in a dog bed in her foster family’s bedroom.

She does have stiffness in her joints that makes it challenging for her keep her stability on hardwood floors, and even though she has never before encountered hardwood floors, she isn’t afraid of them. It would be helpful if her future family has plenty of carpet in the house to help her get around confidently. Kate is also new to the idea of stairs inside the house so she will need someone to help her understand how to get up and down them if she goes to a home with many stairs, or make it easy for her to live without having to climb them.

Kate is very good with other dogs and prefers to have a canine friend, she is also good with cats and has had cat friends in her past. She is a dog that likes to be close to a chosen human and will follow them all day, just wanting to be close. Anyone wanting a sweet velcro dog doesn’t need to look any further than this lovely girl. Kate is up to date on all of her vaccinations and ready for her forever home.

She is being fostered in Maryland.
