found a new home!
Plenty of my friends are looking
for one too. Find a pet to adopt.
I am already neutered, housetrained, purebred, up to date with shots, good with dogs, and good with cats.
Sam came to us in Centerport, L.I. from Kankakee, IL. via ABR's miraculous "underground" railroad. Because of the "effort" of his previous owner, Sam is somewhat shy and nervous in new situations. He also does not bark nor does he growl, he has a very mellow disposition with one exception: birds. He loves them. He wants to chase them! If you have a pet bird, Sam may not be your choice. Other than that, he is fine with most other creatures. He loves people and other dogs although he may be shy with a new dog at first.
Where Sam shines is the outdoors. He is the best dog I have ever had off-leash. A simple whistle gets him to come. I take him to parks for cross country running with me all the time and have never had a problem with him wandering. To see him running, prancing, and leaping through a wetland is watching poetry-in-motion. He is a beautiful, classic Brit! He would be a great dog for active seniors. While he is fine with kids, he really isn't into playing and fetching. He seems to have no interest in toys and chewies. While he wants to be with his owner, he doesn't seem to mind being left alone. If you are interested in adopting Sam please fill out our online adoption application at www.americanbrittanyrescue.org and note Sam as the handsome boy you want to take home!
Sam's owner died and he was taken in by his late owner's hunting buddy who then brought him to a shelter.
