Here's what the humans have to say about me:
Rocky joined SDHH in January after he was rescued from a local shelter, where he landed as a stray. He is estimated to be an 11-year-old male Pomeranian mix. Rocky came to us with heart disease, pulmonary hypertension and a collapsing trachea, common in small breeds. He’s on a variety of medications and likely will be for the long term. He’s well behaved overall, but in true Pom style, can be snappy in new, unknown situations. Rocky is fine with his canine foster sibling, but we feel he would do best as an only dog and without children.
Rocky is house-trained, does his business quickly outside and is eager to return inside once he has done a quick survey of the yard. Rocky walks well on a leash, but is not a fan of long walks due to his wheezing.
He loves attention and always wants to know what’s going on. Even times when he wants to sit with his foster family, he is sometimes leery of when being picked up. Rocky will snap if he has the slightest doubt about what’s happening. Everything has to be on his terms. He can be sitting with us for hours, but any sudden moves can cause him to snap.
Rocky loves to follow his foster parents around the house, go for car rides and join them on the sofa or nap at their feet. He sleeps in bed with his foster parents and prefers to sleep in until mid-morning. He’s a big fan of belly rubs and craves any type of attention and affection.
Rocky gets along with all dogs he meets, but is food aggressive with other dogs, although he does not have any food issues with humans. He is very gentle taking treats by hand from his foster family. Is this special Pom the right fit for you?
To give Rocky a forever home, please complete an application at www.seniordoghaven.org. It can be found under the Adoption Process tab. Please send any questions to info@seniordoghaven.org. Please note that because all of our dogs live in foster homes, we are unable to set up meetings with a dog unless we have a completed adoption application on file.
