Mr. King is a handsome 11-12 year old Shih Tzu who genuinely likes people. He is black, grey and white and weighs 13 pounds.
King is a sweetheart of a dog who charms people with his soft and quiet ways. He is really happy to be at home with his family. King currently has another dog to hang out with, although he does not need another dog companion to be happy. He walks well on a leash and enjoys going for short drives in the car. King seems to like most every person or dog he meets. King wants to greet everyone when he’s out walking in the neighborhood. Respectful of kids, too! He is a happy guy that is curious about his new world. He likes to think he can chase neighborhood squirrels and birds so he’ll need to walk on a leash or enjoy a fenced in yard so he can stroll at his leisure.
King is the greeter of the home and is happy when his pack is together. He loves his food and also loves to supervise in the kitchen. He eats well and is moderately active so that he will keep his boyish figure. When King is relaxed, he loves to stretch out and snooze in his big bed. When he’s in your lap, he’s such a good cuddlier. He has his daily snuggle time with everyone in his foster home.
Currently, King is being treated for an ear infection, which will resolve soon. He also takes thyroid medication and eye medication for dry eye. He must continue the thyroid and eye meds for the rest of his life so will he need someone who will be able to administer these medications for him.
King needs an understanding home that will work with him on his housetraining. His foster mom is helping with house training by keeping him on a regular schedule of going outside, but his adoptive family will need to continue with this effort. He is a sweetheart that wants to please his person. King likes company and needs a home where someone is home much of the day. He is independent enough to be by himself but would also enjoy a home with another dog. We are not sure about cats.
King is healthy, neutered, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. He has had some recent dental work done with one tooth removed. His adoption fee is $170.00 plus sales tax of $12.79 for a total of $182.79. King’s foster mom would like his adopters to live within 25 miles of St. Paul, MN and hope that they will attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in September each year.
