My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

This is Mickey. He is a young, 14 pound Yorkie mix. Isn’t he beautiful and just a cuddle love bug who wants to play and chase toys and give you sloppy kisses. Mickey had a rough beginning. He was found tied up next to a dumpster. A local animal shelter picked him up and after his hold time expired, one of UYR’s loving volunteers asked that we take this baby into rescue – how could we say no to this face!!??? We do not know his exact age but would estimate about 3 years old. The first day foster mom had him, he began to cough uncontrollably in the wee hours of the morning. Foster mom took him to the vet the next day and he was diagnosed with Bordatella or kennel cough. He is on antibiotics and medicine for his cough and made a turn for the better overnight. He is heartworm negative and will be neutered and chipped in the next few days. His foster mom does not understand why he was tied up next to a dumpster because he is absolutely precious, gentle, and fun. He loves to lay his head on foster mom’s shoulder and at the same time, antagonize other members of the pack in his young, playful manner. Foster mom and the pack are working with Mickey on his indoor manners and etiquette (i.e. eating out of everyone’s food bowls at meal time), including potty training. Foster mom is also working to put a few pounds on him. This young boy would be good in a home with older children or just a couple wanting to give him a lot of love. Foster mom will not let him go into a home where the family wants to crate him during the day. This guy was in a kennel for 4 days and who knows what before that. He needs to be free to play and love his family. If you think you have enough love for this precious boy, please fill out an application at www.unitedyorkierescue.org.
