My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

AVAILABLE IN THE MIDWEST...Trooper!!!

Check out this good lookin’ DOOD. Trooper came to us from a backyard Labradoodle breeder who had never interacted with the dogs before. With around 200 dogs on the property, he was just one face of many. Trooper is actually a flat coat labradoodle who either didn’t sell as a puppy or was kept on the property for breeding purposes. We really aren’t sure. When a local rescue group stepped up to pull dogs from the property, we agreed to take in several. Covered in feces with an atrocious smell radiating off of their bodies, nine labradoodles became Lucky Labs and started their new lives in our rescue. On day one, Trooper hid in the corner and growled when his foster came near. On day two, he ventured outside and frolicked happily with the other dogs in his foster home. On day three, he received his first sponge bath. Everyday since then, Trooper has been a different dog! At almost two years old, he is right around 55 pounds...a great size for any lab lover looking for a not-too-big-not-too-small companion. Although he doesn’t have the curly labradoodle fur, he certainly has the goofy labradoodle personality! He loves to wrestle and play with toys. It’s not uncommon for him to carry all toys out of the basket and leave them scattered around the house. He enjoys walking behind the lawnmower as it moves slowly in rows. His other hobbies include doing zoomies in the yard every night around 9:00 p.m. Yes, he really has turned into such a goofy boy since coming out of his shell! He absolutely LOVES to snuggle in the bed with his foster mom! His favorite sleeping position is either on the pillow next to her or with his head tucked into her neck. He rides well in the car and LOVES to go for walks. Trooper is crate trained, house trained, good with other dogs, and cats.

Although he has come SO far since becoming a Lucky Lab(radoodle), he still has a long way to go. Trooper MUST go to a home with at least one other playful dog and no small children. He can still get quite nervous with quick movements and loud noises so it is best that his environment be calm. A securely fenced in yard is also a requirement-no electric fences. He will also need to go to a home that is comfortable with having dogs sleep in the bed. Having spent the first two years of his life with his siblings all in one kennel, he is a very social dog and does not like to be far away from the pack. Most importantly, Trooper must go to a home that is patient and understanding. It may take him a few months to unwind and be completely comfortable in a new environment, so the right family must be willing to wait it out. This sweet boy has come so far in a short amount of time. Are you willing to let him live his best life in your home??

Trooper is neutered, up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, and kept on monthly preventatives. If you are interested in adopting, please apply atwww.luckylabrescue.com and indicate “Trooper” in the notes section.
