My story

Here's what the humans have to say about me:

JIMINY is a 3-year-old neutered male black lab. Jiminy weighs 80 pounds and is up to date on shots. This dog is approved for homes with children ages 18 and up.

DESCRIPTION Jiminy is one of the easiest fosters we've ever had. Housetrained, crate trained, easy going, REALLY easy to introduce to other dogs. He mostly waits to be invited on the bed and sleeps on his own bed in the bedroom, leaving at least some room for the humans to fight for with the less considerate canines. He has ears for days and uses them. Handsome, sweet, affectionate. He has been pretty good left uncrated in the house for a few hours, but he did manage a bit of counter inspection while the humans were away, so crated may be best until he gets a bit more settled. Jiminy is great with other dogs, but can get excited when playing chase with humans and dogs and may mistake a small human for a canine companion in the excitement and accidentally go for the takedown. Due to this, we're approving him for an adult only family.

UPDATE: Jiminy got to go on a road trip to meet some new friends, and was so charming! He rode well in the car, and once he arrived at his destination, was thrilled to get out and play! He is great with other dogs, and was immediately ready to play with his new friends. He enjoyed playing chase in the yard and was full of play bows and joy. Jiminy is a lean, tall boy with big soft ears. He knows sit, and tried really hard to figure out what the silly human was asking him to do when she said "shake paw." (Cleary if he gives BOTH paws, he should get two treats....) He's food motivated and takes treats pretty gently. Jiminy is a sweet, handsome boy, and is going to be a fabulous family member. UPDATE: Jiminy enjoys his fur brother and they played and ran together; he was friendly to other dogs on leash. He has not been exposed to cats. Jiminy was not often crated since his people were home most of the time; he was good about going in and staying in the crate quietly. He slept on his dog bed in the master bedroom at night. He walks well on leash with a harness and enjoys retrieving balls. Jiminy isn't upset by thunder or other loud noises. Jiminy is very affectionate and loves just about any kind of treat. Jiminy likes routine and predictability; he needs a quieter home with minimal traffic since he is cautious of strangers, especially if they approach him. We are approving him for adult-only households to minimize his exposure to sudden and unexpected movements.

UPDATE: Jiminy is an incredibly sweet boy who is very interested in checking out everything in his world. He knows sit, down, paw, crate-up, and walks pretty nicely on leash (he occasionally forgets himself, but even then he's not much of a puller). His nose is his ticket to his world, and he enjoys making sure he gets every detail! He is settling in easily with his foster, enjoying all the toys and a comfy bed. Jiminy has been an excellent house guest. Jiminy would make a great hiking partner, though he'll need some continued leash work for that. He really loves to greet people too! He knows sit, down, stay, shake/paw, high 5, and crate up. He's working on "leave it", but his nose really likes to sniff out all the good stuff and it's hard for him to turn that off. He takes treats very gently, and eats almost delicately. He doesn't even drool! He loves watching "deer tv" out the window, and happily made himself right at home in foster mom's bed.
