Salina was a 911 call AC received; they thought she was a hit by car however it turns out she was attacked by another animal. She has punctures. She is such a sweet senior girl that appears to have been cared for. She perks up when she sees other dogs. Her hold is up on 7/29/19 and she can be killed by shelter staff after that date.

The shelter has started the heartworm positive dogs on ivermectin to help start them on the slow kill method of heartworm treatment. Ivermectin alone does not cure heartworm and does not kill the adult heartworm. Adult heartworm will continue to damage a dog’s organs. Thorough heartworm treatment to cure a dog of the disease consists of diagnostics and a two prong approach to treatment for both the adult or immature heartworm. Veterinary care and supervision is key.
