Lena is a lovely, smart little Shih Tzu with a sweet disposition. She is 5-6 years old and weighs 11 pounds. She has expressive brown eyes and white and gold coloring. She is healthy and observant, and her personality keeps evolving with new experiences. She stands quietly before you, as if she is hoping you will pick her up and hold her, but when you bend over she runs away. Lena actually just wants to be near you, and will come peeking through doorways to see where you are. She sleeps in her own bed but will sleep in her foster mom's bed all through the night and never wets.
Lena has learned her name, some basic commands, and is understanding lots of new words. She is learning about play with toys. She is house trained with regular trips outside, walks well on a leash, and is good in the car. Lena likes company and would do best in a home with someone home most of the day or with another small dog companion. She came from a sad puppy mill life and is just now learning to trust. Since she is very fearful, she will need a home that will help her continue to gain confidence. That confidence will come with slow, steady exposure to new experiences, good training, and being able to interact positively with her new family. The ideal home for her would be with someone who has the time and skills to continue her training. Because of her background, she needs a home without children.
Lena is healthy, spayed, current on vaccinations, microchipped and on heartworm and flea/tick preventative. She has had extensive dental work done. Lena has dry eye, and will need eye drops every day for the rest of her life. Her adoption fee is $320.00 plus sales tax of $24.08 for a total of $344.08. Lena’s foster mom would like her adopters to live within 25 miles of Minneapolis, MN and hope that they will attend the annual Shih Tzu Rescue Reunion held in September each year.
